Manifesto
Some time ago, I came across a very interesting movement that I wanted to actively join. Below is a translation—as faithful as possible—of the manifesto written by Sadgrl (you can find the original version at this link); she gave me permission to share it in our native language.
It is surprising how many people equate the word “Internet” with “social media.” It is a bit like having daily access to millions of books in the Library of Alexandria but being interested only in what people are talking about in the lobby.
The Internet was originally:
– a place suited for creative expression and highly customizable
– a space for people, made by people.
Today, the Internet has become:
– a marketplace (where we are the product)
– a one-way social experience
– a capitalist hellscape.
However, we have the power to transform the Internet.
Our goal is not to go backward, but to build a new path toward the future.
How you can contribute:
– Learn and teach others how to navigate the Internet properly.
– Stop or reduce your activity on modern social media (especially Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter). Convince your friends to do the same!
– Talk on social media about the harm caused by these platforms and promote alternatives.
– Discuss how social media and SEO structures are ruining the internet.
– Create your own personal space on the web. Convince your friends to do the same!
– Socialize and collaborate with other webmasters and artists.
– Write your own personal manifesto.
– Most importantly: never stop creating personal content and always strive to build positive connections with others.
